All staff It is assumed that all participants will be aware of the basic
functions of the VLE Participants may wish to bring with them sample
questions which they have already developed.

Description

Aim of Training:

Questionmark Perception is an online testing tool recommended for use
for high stakes summative assessment. (Please note that for formative
assessment we recommend the VLE testing tool and for surveys Bristol
Online Service – available free via ISS)

This interactive session will prepare staff to use Questionmark
Perception for summative assessment. It will introduce the authoring
tools, guidelines for secure summative assessment and best practice in
its use.

Session outcomes:

By the end of the session participants will
• be able to author a variety of individual questions and provide
feedback using Questionmark
• be able to collect together questions to form an assessment
• be able to make the assessment available to students with a
chosen time and format
• be aware of the rich range of options available with Questionmark
• be aware of best practice when creating questions and assessments
• be aware of best practice when using Questionmark for high stakes
summative assessment
• be aware of accessibility considerations and ways of making
assessments accessible


Session content:
The session will cover the skills of authoring questions, feedback and
assessment and making them available to students. Best practice in
assessment writing and delivery will be discussed.

Tutors:

Jane is a senior staff development officer in SDDU, providing expert
advice on technologies to support blended learning and contributing to
institutional strategic initiatives in this area. Jane is a member of
the VLE board and was one of the first users of Questionmark when it
first arrived at Leeds over 10 years ago.
