Description
Overall aim of workshop
This workshop aims to provide better understanding of the process of
reporting qualitative research and the various tasks involved in
presenting qualitative findings scientifically.
Content of the session
This workshop begins with a discussion of the main challenges that a
qualitative researcher has to face in writing up research findings, and
the different forms of outputs that might be considered. This is
followed by a description of the main issues and aspects to consider
when preparing a written report and the main tasks involved. This
includes a discussion of the questions to consider when writing the
method section, how to use ‘quotes’ effectively in the result section;
and how different forms of analytic output can be used in reporting and
the levels of elucidation and illustration they require. The workshop
will conclude with points to consider about publication in peer reviewed
journals; examples of manuscripts submitted for peer review and comments
from reviewers will be used for illustration.
