Aim of Training:
This session will support participants to consider how to blend
technology into their course design at module level to the best effect.
Session outcomes and benefits:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be better
able to:
Ø Discuss what they mean by blended learning in their context and
the rationale for introduction of technology in their discipline
Ø Reflect on the current structure of teaching and learning on
their module and approach to design
Ø Plan to integrate technology to enhance the student education
experience.
Session content:
This workshop is a introduction to the area of designing for blended
learning. The session will draw on pedagogic literature to discuss
approaches regarded as best practice. We will discuss your rationale for
use of technology; your approach to design; effective communication with
your students; and how to properly evaluate your use of technology to
support learning. The session will be accompanied by resources to
support the planning of your module to integrate technology.
Tutors:
Rebecca Dearden is a Senior Academic Staff Development Officer in the
Learning and Teaching team of SDDU. Rebecca has a legal background and
has extensive teaching experience in academic, vocational and
professional education in both the private sector and HE. Rebecca is a
Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Staff and
Educational Development Association, and has a MA in Lifelong Learning
from the University of Leeds.
