Description
You are invited to participate in a new network exploring the
possibilities for mobile learning at the University of Leeds.

Mobile learning is rapidly becoming a powerful and flexible learning
tool allowing educators and learners to connect and communicate across
global learning environments. Afforded by the ever expanding and
powerful technology of mobile devices, education is no longer
restricted to the lecture hall, campus or field trip. Instead students
can be continually connected, monitored and examined regardless of
location. This group will share examples of mobile learning in practice
from colleagues at Leeds and elsewhere, and provide opportunity for
practical experimentation and discussion.

An Investigation of student perceptions of tablet devices in Business
and Management Higher Education, Nicolas Forsans (LUBS)

The presentation reports on the findings of a limited pilot at Leeds
University Business school aimed at investigating student perceptions
and usage of various types of tablet devices (iPads and Android tablets)
and the ways in which such devices could enhance the learning experience
of students. The focus of the pilot revolves around:
- impact of alternative operating systems (android and iPads) and screen
size in students engagement
- student evaluation of apps designed to enhance student productivity,
before, during and after lectures and seminars
- the barriers to widespread adoption of tablet devices and potential
move to a paper-less environment
