Description
Pre requisites: None

Pre work: Participants are asked to think about the different ‘changes’
taking place in their workplace, and to consider how well these appear
to have been planned, which they see as being effective.

Overall aim of workshop: The context in which HE is operating has been
subject to enormous change recently and this externally driven change
has led to a large number of internal initiatives of change to meet
these new challenges. The aim of this workshop is to provide
participants with an opportunity to consider a range of factors that
impact on the effective leadership of change. Participants will be able
to plan and assess their approach to change using a number of tools and
techniques

Intended outcomes: By the end of this workshop, participants will have:

Discussed the change that is happening currently
Shared experiences of successful and unsuccessful change
Looked at a range of models which can be used in the process of change
Explored leadership styles to ensure people are engaged with, and can
sustain, change
Discussed how to build resilience in self and staff during times of
change

Indicative content: what the training covers:
Promoting change through effective communication
Use of the transition curve and force field analysis
Keeping staff involved during the process of change
Identifying measures of success
Ensuring sustainability via staff resilience

Tutor : Sarah Farrell is a Senior Leadership and People Development
Adviser within SDDU, responsible for leadership and management,
mentoring, women’s development, delivering central programmes and
working with faculties and services on bespoke development. Sarah has a
Postgraduate Certificate in Education, is a qualified coach with the
Institute of Leadership and Management, a certified Springboard
facilitator and is an accredited practitioner in the Myers Briggs,
Quintax, EQi, EQ360 and SDI tools.
