Academic staff who are Faculty Research Ethics Committee, Health
Institute Research Ethics Committee or NRES Ethics Committee members who
wish to explore these issues further and share experiences with
colleagues from different research disciplines on what constitutes best
practice.

Description
This session considers the complexity of ethical issues associated with
online research and difficulties this may pose reviewers in the review
process. It also provides a forum in which ethics reviewers from
different research disciplines can share their experiences and tips on
best practice. It will consider a range of issues and examples arising
in online research.

Overall aim of course: To explore the complexity of ethical issues
associated with online research and the points to consider in reviewing
research that incorporates this.

Outcomes/benefits: Participants will be able to explore these issues,
share experiences and tips on best practice.
Content: Key ethical issues arising in online research and how to
consider these issues when reviewing ethics applications
Methods – The course will be a mixture of interactive lecture and group
work.
