This course will take place on campus.

Developing as an independent researcher is a key part of your doctoral
journey. Designed primarily for postgraduate researchers following
transfer, this workshop will provide you with the tools and resources to
take intentional steps towards research independence.

Through a series of interactive activities and guided reflection, you
will explore what research independence means to you, discover how your
values, motivations and networks influence your development and inform
future career decisions. The workshop also examines different research
career pathways, the realities of working in academia and beyond, and
the importance of finding environments that align with your personal
motivations and goals.

By the end of the session, you will have identified practical actions
and resources to help you continue developing your researcher identity,
build your independence, and plan your next steps with confidence.
