Description
This course will take place online.

Building a strong relationship with your supervisory team is key to a
successful doctoral journey. This interactive workshop with help you
explore expectations of supervision, reflect on how to establish
positive working relationships, and develop proactive approaches to your
doctoral study.

Through group discissions and activities, you will compare perspectives
on supervision, consider how to build trust and communicate effectively,
and develop strategies to address challenges constructively. There will
be opportunities for informal discussions and peer support in break-out
rooms, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and gain practical
advice.

The workshop will conclude with reflection and action planning, enabling
you to strengthen your supervisory relationship and develop proactive
approaches to your candidature.


As a result of attending, you will be able to:

• Compare different expectations of the supervisory relationship with
peers.

• Develop questions to clarify uncertainties within your own research
environment.

• Describe the elements of trust within professional relationships and
identify actions to strengthen your supervisory relationship.

• Recognise assertive communication styles and practise assertive
responses to challenges.
