Description
This session is face to face on campus.

As part of our ongoing work to support a positive and inclusive research
culture, OD&PL is hosting a series of café-style conversations. Inspired
by the format used by the Wellcome Trust, these sessions offer a space
to discuss challenges and share ideas for change.

We’re keen to hear about the challenges you face, what’s already working
well in your research environment, and what a better culture could look
like. These Cafés are part of a wider project to promote positive
research cultures, and your discussions will help shape ideas for how
the institution might evolve.

Research Culture Cafés will run regularly. Some sessions will be open
for participants to raise any topics they wish, while others will focus
on specific themes. You can find details about how the Cafés work, the
themes we’ll be exploring, and how to get involved on the OD&PL
Researcher Development and Culture website:
https://researchersupport.leeds.ac.uk/supporting-research-
culture/research-culture-cafes/

Most sessions will be open to all research staff and Postgraduate
Researchers (PGRs), though some may be tailored to specific groups whose
insights are especially needed.

Themes and remit will have been announced on the website but please make
sure to double check before booking.

In open sessions, we’ll usually explore up to two research culture-
related themes. Discussions will take place in small groups of up to 10
people, each supported by a facilitator to help guide the conversation.

At the end of each Café, we’ll share a summary of the challenges raised,
examples of good practice, and ideas discussed - anonymised and shared
with all participants, as well as the Researcher Development Steering
Group and the Research Culture Steering Group.

These Cafés are part of a broader effort to build a Research Culture
Community - a space to continue conversations, share ideas, and help
shape future plans. Both the Cafés and the community are supported by
the Researcher Development and Research Culture Team.
