Description
This will be a 1-hour session, (followed by an additional 30 minutes for
questions and further discussion).
This session will introduce attendees to neurodiversity affirming
approaches to academic personal tutoring to support APTs to develop and
adapt their practice to better support and meet the needs of their
neurodivergent students.
This will include content and guidance around communication, setting
clear expectations, invisible rules, awareness of how being
neurodivergent and challenges of executive functioning would impact a
student and advice and approaches that may need to be adapted as a
result.
The session will involve activities to support attendees to reflect on
and consider how their own current teaching and learning practices in
relation to their APT role support neurodivergent students, and identify
areas of their practice to adapt as needed.
