Description

Are you an academic personal tutor (APT)? This session is designed to
continue developing your role as an APT and your relationship with your
tutees, supporting and empowering them to thrive.

In the session, we will focus on some of the barriers for international
students at UG and PG level, such as how to communicate with you and ask
for help. We will share feedback from research with international
students on what makes an effective APT, alongside recommendations and
resources to support you in your role.

A key part of the session will involve attendees reflecting on the
barriers and how to address them through shared best practice.

This is an online session.

Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
· Identify what makes an effective APT-international tutee
relationship;
· Be aware of some of the barriers for international students;
· Be aware of resources for APTs;
· Reflect on your own practice as an APT and set goals for the year
ahead.
