Description
COURSE FORMAT:
This is a 1.5hr online course in which you will learn how to compare
means using the T-tests and ANOVA. The course will mix teaching with
demonstrations.
PREREQUISITES:
The ‘SPSS’ (IBM Statistics) courses are designed to be undertaken in
order. Participants must have attended the SPSS for Beginners course
prior to applying for the SPSS Advanced course.
CONTENT:
• The One-Sample t-test
Researchers use the One-sample t-test is to compare a sample mean to a
known population mean. In this training, you will:
· Be able to describe data requirements for the One-Sample t-test
· Write the Null Hypothesis for the One-Sample t-test
· Enter data into SPSS for the One-Sample t-test
· Conduct and interpret the output from the One-Sample t-test
The Independent Samples t-test
Researchers use the Independent Samples t-test to compare means from two
independent groups. In this training, you will:
· Understand the data assumptions (requirements) appropriate for using
the Independent-Samples t-test
· Write the Null Hypothesis for Independent-Samples t-test
· Enter data into SPSS for the Independent-Samples t-test
· Conduct and interpret the output from Independent-Samples t-test
The Paired Samples t-test
Researchers use the Paired samples t-test to compare two related means.
In this training, you will:
· Understand the data assumptions (requirements) appropriate for using
the Paired Samples t-test
· Write the Null Hypothesis for the Paired Samples t-test
· Enter data into SPSS for the Paired Samples t-test
· Conduct and interpret the output from Paired Samples t-test
Introduction to One Way ANOVA
Researchers use One Way ANOVA to detect the difference in means of three
or more independent groups. ANOVA is an extension of the independent. In
this training, you will:
· Understand the data assumptions (requirements) appropriate for using
the One Way ANOVA
· Write the Null Hypothesis for Way ANOVA
· Enter data into SPSS for the Way ANOVA
· Conduct and interpret the output from Way ANOVA
