This session will be delivered face to face on campus
Overall aim of course: This course will help managers to understand how
to support performance improvement and manage staff performance
effectively.
Intended outcomes + benefits from attending:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
• Understand the University's processes, good management practices
and relevant aspects of the law for managing all aspects of performance.
• Be aware of the common problems they face when managing poor
performance.
• Understand the roles and responsibilities of managers and HR.
• Have knowledge of issues that might arise when managing
performance eg sickness absence, submission of a grievance.
This session focuses on a range of performance issues. It highlights the
importance of setting and agreeing clear objectives and expectations for
staff as well as on-going monitoring and the use of constructive
feedback to support the achievement of these objectives. It will provide
an overview of the policies and procedures to help effectively manage
performance. Case studies and other activities will be used to help
managers feel more confident in preparing for conversations with staff
about their performance.
