Description

This course will take place on campus.

This workshop will help you prepare for your viva by giving you an
experience of answering viva questions and reflecting on how well you
did this. It covers both the transfer viva stage and the final doctoral
viva.

The main part of the workshop is a participatory viva exercise where
you’ll work in groups of 3. You’ll take it in turns to be asked typical
viva questions and receive feedback on this. This will allow you to:
• Practise your response to a set of common questioning approaches
in Vivas.
• Receive feedback on your responses.
• Reflect upon your answers and any changes you might make for the
actual Viva.
• Experience an examiner’s perspective of asking viva questions.

After the viva exercise, there will be the opportunity to ask questions
about the viva.

Before the workshop, you are strongly encouraged to work through
The Viva Collection LinkedIn Learning online material on the viva you
are preparing for. You will receive details of this in the calendar
invitation when your booking is confirmed.
