Description
The aim of this interactive workshop is to raise awareness and develop a
culture within the organisation so conversations about the menopause are
normalised and not taboo.

Details of the venue will be provided in the meeting invitation.


By the end of the session participants will be able to:
• Discuss the signs and symptoms of the menopause
• Evaluate the potential impact of these on both home and work life
• Describe help and support available both within and out-with the
organisation
• Action support in the workplace for staff members as appropriate

The course will cover:
• Clarification around the language of peri / menopause.
• Signs and symptoms, the potential impact of these.
• Why this is an important topic for everyone in the workplace.
• The university's menopause guidance and other sources of support.
• How to have a good conversation with a manager / colleague if you
need support

This workshop will be delivered by Bee Macpherson (Programme Lead,
PGCert Clinical Education, School of Medicine) and Bernadette Hardware
(Safety Health and Wellbeing Services).

Bee leads the University working group on menopause in the workplace, of
which Bernadette is a member. Bee has also developed guidance
documents for staff, created the meno-pause for thought cafes and is
leading a research project on the menopause.
