(Please ensure you are available for all dates, as this is a modular
programme with sessions building on each other).

A limited number of places are available for postdocs from our
University to participate in a series of virtual workshops on building
strong networks and visibility. This is the second time R14 is offering
this programme, after the successful pilot in 2021.

The sessions are facilitated by researcher developers from the Russell
Group 14 network, giving you the opportunity to learn and network with
90 postdocs and researcher developers from across the UK.

Session 1: Introduction to the principles of networking, led by Nicole
Horst (Cambridge) and Tom Rusbridge (King’s College)

Session 2: Building confidence to network and taking first steps, led by
Josie Grindulis (Cardiff) and Victoria Sedman (Nottingham)

Session 3: Actual networking session (hosted on Kumospace), led by
Victoria Sedman (Nottingham) and Rui Pires Martins (QMUL)

Session 4: Collaboration and partnering, led by Paul Monahan (Queens
Belfast) and Rui Pires Martins (QMUL)

Session 5: Social media for networking (Twitter, LinkedIn) led by Donald
Lush (KCL), Sam Oakley (Glasgow) and Ruth Winden (Leeds)

NB: You will be expected to attend the whole series, as all five
sessions build upon each other. To maximise your learning, some pre-
session preparation will be required.

Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis, and we will
operate a waiting list.

Once you have secured your place, you will be contacted by colleagues
from King’s College with further information, access to course materials
and logon details to zoom sessions.

This is a great opportunity to benefit from the expertise of a wide
range of researcher developers, build connections and collaborations
with internal and external postdocs across all disciplines, and enhance
a key skill essential for any future career direction. The time spent on
this training programme falls under your annual allowance of 10 days’
career development time.

Ruth Winden will contribute to the 5th workshop on Networking via Social
Media and looks forward to working with you.

Please book by 12 noon, Monday, 13 December 2021.
