Description
WHEN TO TAKE THIS COURSE:
We recommend that you take this course in your final year once you have
written the chapters of your thesis and are ready to amalgamate them
into one document.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This online session covers the master and subdocuments technique which
is used to build a master document if you have written your thesis
chapters as separate files.

COURSE FORMAT:
The online session is delivered by a facilitator completely online via
Microsoft Teams and the "virtual classroom" is accessed through the
internet. You will not need any special software in order to attend the
online webinar. The sessions are conducted via the internet and can be
attended from any computer that has an internet connection.

Windows 10 & Word 365 for Windows are used throughout the course.

PREREQUISITES:
This course is a follow-on course from Part 1 series. Participants
should have completed the "Word for Thesis Part 1" sessions as you will
need to be able to perform the following techniques without assistance:-

• Apply, Modify and create styles
• Apply the University Template to existing documents.
• Generate a Table of Contents
• Apply Captions to objects
• Use the navigation pane
• Generate a list of figures, list of tables & list of
abbreviations.
• Add page numbers, headers and footers to a document.
• Insert section breaks to create landscape & portrait pages

If you are unable to perform these tasks you may be asked to leave the
course and attend "Word for Thesis Part 1" sessions in order to bring
your skills up to speed.

• Create a master document from a template
• Prepare subdocuments (dealing with EndNote references & Page
numbers)
• Insert subdocuments
• Add a title page and update page numbers
• Update Table of Contents and figures
• Unlink subdocuments
• Create a PDF
