Suitability
For international PGRs in the early stages (ideally from beginning of a
candidature, but at least within first six months) of their PhD study,
who have had limited formal English instruction and would benefit from
participating in further study to improve their capabilities as doctoral
writers.
Pre-requisites:
• This is a five-week course. Enrolments are only accepted for
participants who are available for all five weeks
• Participants are expected to bring writing to share and discuss
with other participants.
• Participants are expected to promptly complete the Grammar Review
which will be distributed in the first session.
• Individual writing consultations are offered every two weeks.

Description
This course focuses on helping you improve the accuracy and fluency of
your doctoral writing in order to communicate more successfully with
your readers. You will investigate the different stages of the writing
process, considering precision, cohesion and coherence in your writing,
practising key skills such as summarising. You will become familiar
with tools and strategies to help you work independently on continuing
to improve as a doctoral writer beyond the classroom.
