Suitability
This workshop is primarily designed to support
international PGRs in the early stages of their PhD who want to
improving their use of (academic) English vocabulary to ensure more
effective communication with readers.

Pre-requisites: Early-stage international PGRs who want to explore
their use of (academic) English vocabulary to enable more effective
communication with their readers.

You should complete the Grammar A workshop (and preferably Grammar B,
too) before participating in this workshop.

Description
In this workshop, you will explore what ‘knowing a word’ means, from
spelling and pronunciation, to collocation and creating accurate
grammatical relations between words. You will consider your
responsibilities as a writer to use words precisely and clearly to
convey meaning; and compare the effects of different vocabulary choices
on the reader. You will become familiar with published and online
referencing resources which are available to help you make better
choices, use words accurately and fulfil your duties as a writer.
