Suitability
Whilst this workshop is designed primarily as a refresher for PGRs whose
first language is English, all PGRs who are interested in reviewing
their knowledge and brushing up their usage of English grammar are
welcome to attend*

*For international PGRs who have had limited formal instruction in
English, please see the Grammar A and Grammar B workshops which are also
bookable through the training catalogue but provided by the Language
Centre.

This is an online event

Overall Aim of the Course:
This session aims to provide a friendly space where you can review
issues such as:
• basic grammar terminology
• sentence structures
• punctuation
• cohesion and coherence
• formal academic style
Resources to help you with further independent inquiry will also be
discussed

Outcomes and Benefits:
In this session, through examples and practical exercises, you can
expect to:
- increase your grammatical awareness and and by implementing what
you’ve learnt, enhance the success of your writing
- feel more confident in your writing
- decode feedback on your writing more effectively and communicate
more efficiently about grammatical issues in your writing
- be able to evaluate your own writing more effectively
- be aware of and be able to make use of resources to help you
continue to develop your writing.
