Pre-requisites:
You must be able to bring
a. a piece (several pages) of writing-in-progress to work on
improving in the session - this will include sharing it with other
participants
b. a copy of a journal article relevant to your current writing

Overall Aim of the Course:
This session does not offer ‘quick fixes’, but seeks to help you
identify features of successful academic writing and encourage you to
emulate them in your own work.

Outcomes and Benefits:
In this session, you will work on your piece of writing-in-progress,
focussing on:
- identifying a clear purpose for your writing-in-progress, (and
considering how this local purpose relates to the overall purpose of the
section/chapter/thesis etc.)
- identifying the necessary moves to achieve this purpose
- considering appropriate ways of linking these moves to achieve
‘flow’ for the reader
- developing an appropriate stance/voice for the piece of writing
