Description
Space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock will give an open lecture in the
clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall, talking about how she overcame a
disadvantaged background to become a respected academic, presenter of
BBC programmes, including the Sky at Night, and ‘go to’ science
commentator for the UK’s media. She will also talk about her concerns
about the lack of women in public life and specialist fields, and
present her ideas for some of the ways in which this imbalance can be
addressed.
Refreshments will be provided after the event and there will be
opportunities for networking.
