WHEN TO TAKE THIS COURSE:
We recommend that you take this course before you write your transfer
report or thesis chapters.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course focuses on various techniques to build a professional,
structured, consistent long document such as a transfer report or
thesis. The course contains many hints and tips of how to use Word
effectively and efficiently and also includes coaching on how to
identify potential errors or formatting issues.

COURSE FORMAT:
The course is hands-on with a tutor leading you through each of the
processes. Practice exercises and tasks are included in the session to
help you master the features of Word. Participants are encouraged to
bring thier own files to the session in order to practice the technqiues
on relevant data.

Windows 10 & Word 2016 for PC are used throughout the course.

PREREQUISITES:
Participants should be familiar with Word environment and be using Word
on a regular basis. Many of the topics covered in this session require
participants to possess an intermediate knowledge of Word and therefore
this course is not suitable for beginners.

• Using the navigation pane
• Using the University Templates
• Working with styles
• Table of contents
• Using Footnotes
• Apply captions to objects.
• Generate a list of figures & list tables.
• Adding page numbers, headers and footers.
• Using Sections to control page layout & page numbering.
