Description
COURSE CONTENT:
As well as providing and supporting a large HPC service, we can also
support researchers with using Cloud services from commercial Cloud
providers such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Services and Google.

This training course is intended specifically for researchers who can
write code or are interested in coding ina modern computing context
(typical languages might be R or Python).

This hand-on training is intended to familiarise researchers and data
scientists with the services that Cloud providers offer to aid them in
their research, especially with regard to High Performance Computing,
Big Data analysis, and analysing data streaming from Internet-of-Things
(IoT) devices.

Activities this workshop will cover:

- Introduction to Cloud services
- Intellectual Property and Security issues
- Machine Learning with the Azure Machine Learning Lab
- Streaming Analytics with Azure Internet of Things
- Big Data Analytics with Apache Spark
- HPC in the Cloud with Azure and AWS
- Leveraging Cloud APIs: Using the Google Vision API for image analysis

PREREQUISITES:
We recommend that attendees have a working knowledge of the Unix shell
(although this is not essential). A suitable course is "Introduction to
Unix for HPC"

Duration: 1 day
