Description
Context:
Three tiered lecture theatres in key locations across the campus have
been redesigned to a new set of standards with state of the art
technology. These new learning environments in Roger Stevens LT 8,
Mechanical Engineering LT B, and Worsley Dental LT, will enable students
to collaborate more effectively in groups and will present opportunities
for lecturers to explore more innovative ways of teaching to enhance the
learning experience for students.

Aims:
The aim of this workshop is give academic teaching staff an opportunity
to explore the technology available in the redesigned lecture theatres
and to consider strategies to promote student interaction, engagement
and collaboration.

Content:
This is short, practical workshop for academic staff who plan to teach
in the redesigned lecture theatres. Numbers are limited so that
colleagues can familiarise themselves with the specific software and
hardware now available.
During the workshop you will:

• Experience sitting in a student pod to access the student Lenova
ThinkPad networked device;
• Identify lighting and audio equipment;
• Explore the technology at the lectern and access to audio/visual
capabilities;
• Engage in interactive activities which explore the concept of
collaboration;
• Discuss best practice in using these spaces based on pedagogical
affordances;
• Utilise the SMART Tools available on the NEC MultiSync
Interactive Display; and
• View a Lecture Capture Recording made during the workshop.

Preparation:
Once you book onto the workshop you will be automatically enrolled on a
VLE Organisation entitled Lecture Theatre Redesign which we encourage
you to explore.
