Description
Overall aim of session:
This course is designed to enable staff to understand their
responsibilities when handling personal information in their daily
tasks, and how to ensure compliance with the new General Data Protection
Regulation. It will include what personal data is; how to process
personal data lawfully; how to keep data safe; the implications of a
security breach involving personal data and how to report an incident.

Intended outcomes and benefits:
By the end of this workshop, participants will: Understand how GDPR
applies to processing of personal data; understand how to comply with
GDPR; how to keep data safe and what to do in case of a security breach;
where to get further help and guidance.

Pre-requisites/requirements/prior knowledge:
None.

Learning and teaching methods
Course will be a mixture of presentation and group work on case
examples.

Tutor(s):
Dr Alice Temple is the University’s Data Protection Officer and is
responsible for overseeing the management of personal data within the
institution. Neil Favager is Information Governance Manager for the
University.
