Overall aim of course:
To assist leaders and managers in understanding their roles and
responsibilities in the management of health and safety at the
University.

Intended outcomes + benefits from attending:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• Explain why the University has given health and safety a high
priority,
• Describe the main elements of the University’s health and safety
management system,
• Identify their management responsibilities for health and safety,
• Explain the importance of risk assessment in developing safe
systems of work.

Indicative content:
The context of why health and safety is important, current obligations
on managers, health and safety systems and required practices to manage
health and safety effectively.

Learning and teaching methods: An interactive workshop.

Tutor: Dr Paul Beal is the Health & Safety
Manager in the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
