This online workshop is an introductory session for academic staff who
have little or no experience of facilitating online learning with
Collaborate Ultra. Alternative training and support is available for
central service staff who do not have access to Collaborate Ultra via

Pre-requisites
To benefit fully, you should have access to a microphone and headset and
either Chrome or Firefox as outlined in the joining instructions email.

Aim
This online workshop aims to introduce University staff to the
Blackboard Collaborate Ultra online learning environment and explore
ideas on how it can be used effectively to support student education.

Outcomes
On successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• experience what it is like to participate in an online session using
Blackboard Collaborate Ultra
• explore some of the main features of Blackboard Collaborate when
delivering and facilitating online, interactive events
• identify tools which can enhance student learning experiences such as
Chat, Polling and the Whiteboard
• clarify any technical issues (engage in a Q&A).

Content and format
This 30 minute workshop is delivered online and participants are
expected to actively engage in the session. Collaborative activities
include text chat, audio discussion, polling and use of the whiteboard.
This will be a forum to share ideas on how you hope to use Collaborate
Ultra for student education.

Mapping to the UKPSF
This online workshop broadly aligns to A1, A2 and A4 of the UK
Professional Standards Framework. In particular it relates to Core
Knowledge 4: The use and value of appropriate learning technologies.
