Facilitating Online Learning
before attending this more in-depth
workshop.

Preparatory work
A few days prior to the session you will also be required to contribute
to a Padlet Wall to share your initial ideas on how you wish to use
Collaborate Ultra. Please view the joining instructions for further
details.

Aim
This online workshop aims to prepare academic staff to make use of the
various tools within Ultra to moderate an online event and hear tips and
advice from existing Collaborate users.

Outcomes
On successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• set up a collaborative room to host an online event for students or an
external audience;
• plan and moderate interactive online activities to promote student
engagement;
• build on the experience of Collaborate users when designing and
planning online sessions (learning tips and tricks).

Content and format
This 1 hour workshop is delivered online and participants will
experience the role of "moderator" to plan and moderate an online event.
You will explore the full range of tools to build in activities to
promote student engagement such as:
• sharing content (whiteboard, presentation, audio and video)
• designing polls
• sharing an application from your desktop
• setting up a breakout room and whiteboards for collaborative group
work
• giving students presenter access
• recording sessions.
Experienced Collaborate Ultra users will also join this session and you
will have the opportunity to ask questions about good practice and
pedagogical principles.
