None, although researchers may find it useful to also attend the
workshop, ‘Time Management During Your Research Degree’

Overall aim of course
The aim of this workshop is to introduce the basic elements of project
management and apply them to the research context with a view to
supporting researchers in the timely completion of their research
degree.

Outcomes and benefits
Project management techniques are widely applicable and used in wide
ranging contexts in education, research, industrial and commercial
sectors etc. This workshop will introduce basic project management ideas
considering how the ideas can be applied beneficially to the research
degree context. Project management can provide a very organised and
structured way of working toward a goal. The workshop provides the
opportunity for researchers to understand more about project management
techniques and how they might be beneficial to their specific research
project.

The session will cover:
Characteristics of research projects
Using project management techniques to manage a research project
Planning and setting targets
Implementing the plan
Reviewing progress
