Description
WHEN TO TAKE THIS COURSE:
We recommend that you take this course in your second year when you have
collected data in Excel, and when you have completed Excel Part 1.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
The techniques covered on this course explore other techniques in Excel
to help you analyse and organise your data.

COURSE FORMAT
The course is hands-on with a tutor leading you through each of the
processes. Practice exercises and tasks are included in the session to
help you master the manipulation features of Excel. Participants are
encouraged to bring their own files to the session in order to practice
the technqiues on relevant data.

Windows 10 & Excel 2016 for PC are used throughout the course.


PREREQUISITES
Participants should have completed the Excel for Research
Part 1 course or be able to perform the following techniques without
assistance, as you will need these skills to progress:-

• Create a simple formula using the SUM, MAX, MIN & AVERAGE
functions
• Understand Relative and Absolute cell referencing in a formula
• Sort & Filter data
• Name cells & cell ranges

If you do not possess the prerequisite skills you may be asked to leave
the course.

• Lookup Functions
• Text Functions
• Data Analysis Toolpak overview
• Highlight cells automatically that meet certain criteria
• Summarise data using Pivot Tables
• Convert text to columns
• Remove duplicate data
• Using Flash Fill
