Description
Media Awareness Workshop - Part one

Do you want to learn why and how you should communicate your work
publicly? Be able to understand what journalists require for different
media outlets and their production processes? Do you want to be able to
give a good radio interview as well as provide effective quotes for
print media?

This interactive workshop will include exercises, interviews and
examples to build your communication confidence on dealing with the
media, hosted by science broadcaster and journalist Richard Hollingham.
Richard is a producer/presenter for the popular Planet Earth and award-
winning Space Boffins podcasts, he also anchors live TV broadcasts for
the European Space Agency and has written for New Scientist, Discover
and most national UK newspapers. Richard is a presenter and producer for
BBC radio, and a former Senior Producer for BBC Radio 4’s flagship news
programme, Today. This workshop will be of interest to you if you would
like to understand how to inform and engage with the media, create
impact and further your public profile.

You must be able to attend the 'Blogging and Videoing for Research
Impact' - part two of the course on either 12 or 13 July. You must beabl
eto attend both part 1 and 2 to be accepted onto the
course.
