Overall aim of course: The course will provide an overview of
the issues arising in research with human participants, focusing on a
broad understanding of informed consent and autonomy and consider how
these can best be respected. It will explore situations in which duress
or lack of understanding might invalidate consent. The course will be a
mixture of interactive lecture and group work.
