Description
Pre-requisites: None

Pre-work: It will be helpful if participants can reflect from a personal
point of view on situations they have encountered where feedback has
been given, and some thoughts on the purpose and skills involved, and
any sense of good or bad practice.

Overall aim of course: To explore the context and skills of providing
feedback to others.

Intended outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
* Understand when there is a need to provide feedback to others
* Understand the purpose of providing feedback to others
* Understand the skills of providing feedback to other staff
* Have had chance to practice giving feedback to other staff

Indicative content:
* The value of feedback in different contexts (e.g. student education,
general management)
* Establishing and reflecting on best practice
* When to use feedback
* Principles of effective feedback
* Skills of giving (and receiving) feedback
* Case studies and skills practice

Learning and teaching methods: An interactive workshop, models will be
provided, case study and skills practice.

Tutor: Marcus Hill is a Senior Staff Development Adviser in SDDU. He has
previously held a number of senior training and development roles within
industry. He has also led a team at a College of FE and designing and
delivering organisational development projects as well as personal and
professional development workshops. He has also completed a post
graduate diploma in Training Management and is an authorised facilitator
of the Margerison-McCann Team Management Profile and Quintax Personality
Profile.
