Suitability
This session is specifically designed for all staff interested in
managing a social media presence on behalf of the University; a separate
session is offered for staff looking to use social media professionally
as an individual. Although there will be some overlap, the focus of each
session is different therefore colleagues may wish to attend both.

Prerequisites:
No experience of social media is required.
It is recommended that you attend Going Social: Your Digital Identity
first.

Pre-work requirements:

Aim of Workshop:
This practical workshop will introduce participants to managing a social
media presence on behalf of the University, such as a faculty, service,
department or research project

Session outcomes:
By the end of this session you should be better able to:
1. Recognise the potential key uses social media can have for
university business
2. Identify how you could utilise key platforms including LinkedIn,
Twitter and Facebook, on behalf of the University
3. Recognise the benefits and challenges of managing an online
presence on behalf of the University
4. Brand your University presence
5. Demonstrate awareness of institutional policies related to your
institutional use of social media

Session content:
This workshop will provide an introduction to managing a social media
presence on behalf of the University. The workshop will explore the
various uses of social media, key platforms and useful features, as well
as considering online safety, identity, digital communications and
developing a strategy, taking account of University guidance.
