Suitability
This session is specifically designed for all staff interested in using
social media professionally as an individual; a separate session is
offered for staff looking to manage a social media presence on behalf of
the University. Although there will be some overlap, the focus of each
session is different therefore colleagues may wish to attend both.

Prerequisites:
No experience of social media is required.
It is recommended that you attend Going Social: Your Digital Identity
first.

Pre-work requirements:
None

Aim of Workshop:
This practical workshop will introduce participants to managing and
raising their professional profile online through the use of social
media.

Session outcomes:
By the end of this session you should be better able to:
1. Recognise the potential key uses social media can have for you
professionally (as an individual)
2. Identify how you could utilise key platforms including LinkedIn,
Twitter and Facebook
3. Brand your professional presence
4. Demonstrate awareness of institutional policies related to your
social media practice

Session content:
The workshop will explore the various uses of social media, key
platforms and useful features, as well as considering online safety,
your professional digital identity and ways of engaging and interacting
professionally online, taking account of University guidance.
