Description
Aim:
This session will support applicants to apply for professional
recognition against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching
and support of learning in Higher Education (UKPSF) as Associate Fellow
(AFHEA), Fellow (FHEA), Senior Fellow (SFHEA) or Principal Fellow
(PFHEA) of the Higher Education Academy.

Outcomes:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be better able to:
• Request a Panel Date,
• Prepare their application for fellowship, by completing a CPD record,
writing a reflective account which includes evidence from self,
students, peers and literature, and obtaining references, and
• Apply for individual professional recognition of their teaching
practice at Descriptor 1 (AFHEA), Descriptor 2 (FHEA), Descriptor 3
(SFHEA), or Descriptor 4 (PFHEA).

Content:
This workshop is a practical small group session where the tutors will
outline the requirements of the UKPSF@Leeds Individual Application and
provide support for participants to complete and submit their
application.

Tutor:
Rebecca O’Loughlin is a Learning and Teaching Development Adviser in OD
& PL. She is an academic developer with experience in discipline-
specific and generic contexts. She has previously worked for the Higher
Education Academy Subject Centre for Philosophical and Religious
Studies, and at the University of Manchester and York St John
University. At York St John, she led the HEA-accredited CPD Framework
and facilitated the achievement of 100% HEA Fellowship amongst academic
staff. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow
of the Staff and Educational Development Association, and is a doctoral
graduate of the University of Leeds.

Kate Richardson is an Academic Development Consultant in OD & PL working
with colleagues across the university to develop learning and teaching.
A language education specialist, Kate has held a number of roles in
teaching, learning and research from teaching in primary, middle and
secondary schools to degree level and postgraduate levels, including
doctoral supervision. She has led a range of teacher education
programmes at the University of Warwick and the University of Nottingham
and has acted as external examiner and adviser at other UK universities.
She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and provides
support for colleagues seeking professional recognition of their
practice through the HEA fellowship scheme, with experience of mentoring
applicants and as a reviewer.
