journal article published
Select appropriate journals

Outcomes and benefits
Participants will gain an overview and further their understanding of
the processes involved in publishing research in peer reviewed journals.
The session will cover
Issues such as selecting the right journal for your submission and
understanding impact factors will be addressed, plus practical points
about preparing manuscripts and illustrative material, including the
possibility of page charges, are included. Although the review process
may differ slightly from journal to journal, general principles apply,
and a range of examples will be covered. We shall look at the roles of
the editor and reviewers; a little knowledge here can help you to decide
if a major rewrite is really required in response to the comments you
have received. And what do you do if the article is rejected by your
first choice journal? The workshop will cover the further publication
rituals that take place once an article is accepted, including proof
correction and copyright forms.
Format
The workshop involves a combination of instruction, discussion and
interactive group work.
