Description
Please note these workshops were formally known as the Supervisory
Management workshops

Pre-requisites: None

Pre-work requirements: Participants will be sent the Hay Managerial
Styles questionnaire to complete and bring with them to the workshop.

Overall aim of course
Anyone with a leadership and management responsibility is critical to
the Universities’ future success. They set the tone for and enable our
future achievements. This workshop will introduce participants to the
skills knowledge and understanding required to lead and manage
effectively at the University.

Intended outcomes and benefits from attending:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
Understand the difference between leadership and management
Have identified which managerial styles are required in their jobs
Have considered different models of management and leadership

Indicative content: what the session will cover:
Definitions of leadership and management; Hay Managerial styles
questionnaire; Demonstrating personal responsibility; Establishing a
clear sense of purpose and direction; Ask – Tell continuum

Learning and teaching methods: An interactive workshop

Tutor: Marcus Hill is a Senior Staff Development Adviser in SDDU. He
has previously held a number of senior training and development roles
within industry. He has also led a team at a College of FE and designing
and delivering organisational development projects as well as personal
and professional development workshops. He has also completed a post
graduate diploma in Training Management and is an authorised facilitator
of the Margerison-McCann Team Management Profile and Quintax Personality
Profile.
