Suitability
Postgraduates, Research Staff who teach and other Part-time Teachers
(from any discipline) who have some experience of teaching and who have
an interest in further developing their teaching skills and gaining
greater understanding of their role and responsibilities as a HE
teacher. It is expected that participants will have attended one or
more of: Learning and Teaching in Tutorials, Seminars, Problems Classes
and Workshops; Assessing Students Work; Laboratories and Practical
Classes; Learning and Teaching in Lectures. By booking you are
indicating that you are available to attend the full session. Please
note that if you arrive late or leave part way through the session your
attendance may be disregarded. If the workshop is FULL, then please

Description
Aim: This session involves participants exploring methods of reviewing
their teaching so they can improve their own teaching practice, and
develop their confidence and professionalism as teachers in higher
education.
Outcomes: At the end of the workshop, participants will be better
able to:
•Use a range of methods for gaining feedback on their own teaching
•Make use of a variety of ways to evidence reflection on their
teaching
•Respond appropriately to student feedback
•Use reflection as a means to develop as a teaching professional
Content: This workshop is an interactive small group session which uses
group activities as the basis of discussion about developing teaching
practice. Resources to support continuing professional development in
teaching are also provided.

Tutor: Clara Davies is a Senior Academic Staff Development Officer in
the Learning and Teaching team of SDDU. Clara has a background in
Engineering and has extensive experience both as a researcher in
industry and as a university lecturer. She is a Fellow of the Higher
Education Academy, a Senior Fellow of the Staff and Educational
Development Association, and a University Teaching Fellow
